Proceeds from the auction will support our Youth Program, a community leadership program for local rising juniors and seniors in high school. The Youth Program launched in 2004, and is designed to enhance leadership skills, philanthropy and civic engagement for area high school students.
“I enjoyed participating in the Leadership Arlington Youth Program. Spending time with other student leaders was a great bonding experience. The skills I learned helped me discover my strengths as a leader which benefited me throughout the remainder of my high school experience. I have drawn on those skills in my collegiate career as well. I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to grow and learn about their community.”

About the Youth Program
For two weeks, the youth program meets at different public, private and nonprofit locations throughout Arlington County. Participants have the opportunity to be exposed to diverse organizations and meet with local leaders during this hands-on experiential program.
Skills sessions focus on professionalism, mentoring, cultural competency and facilitation. Our Youth Program is unique in its “Philanthropy in Action” program session, which allows participants to learn the value of philanthropy through visits to approximately 30 local nonprofits in Arlington. Participants are tasked with deciding on one nonprofit to be the recipient of a $1,000 grant, developing their own criteria for evaluating each nonprofit and coming to consensus about the grant awardee.
The goal of our Youth Program is that every young leader in Arlington be able to:
